Here’s a pretty Kingfisher that was paddling around in a spring fed creek where I hunt.

Never seen one like that?

What species...do you know?

All of ours look like this belted Kingfisher.

Me thinks you are correct. Just never seen any species of Kingfisher that shape or with golden eyes.

'Least Grebe' fits nicely though.

I stand corrected! I had no idea what it was and had never seen anything like it. Several people told me it was a Kingfisher and despite my doubts, that’s what I called it. Thanks for the correct identification! I saw him swimming around a creek on my deer lease in Blanco County. Thanks again!

Same here in Menard. I have a few on the San Saba River and Clear Creek. I have never seen a blue one.
Adios,
Gary

Different species of Kingfisher are different colors (including blue and green) but not solid colors and no Yellow/Golden eyes. The OP's pic is of a beautiful 'Least Grebe'.
