Congratulations. Great, mature buck.
Question: what is going on with the Counties with 13” restrictions. I heard something about exceptions on maturity or tine length or something. Please clearing for me if you know for sure. I’ve heard enough of “I think…” The issue caused me to pass on one my first season here last year. He was very similar to this guy you have here. Awesome stuff. Never happen, estimating rack spread is pretty easy and objective, judging length, mass of tines and a deer's age is very, very, subjective, IMO. Believe it or not; that rack spread only measured 15 1/2 inches. A deer of that quality was barely legal for me here in Parker County. After further inquiry; exceptions have only been discussed, and not implemented. Glad I let this guys “twin” walk last year.

He's in Duval County, no ARs anywhere down there in So. TX I implied those Counties with the restriction; be pretty stupid to post up an illegal harvest now wouldn’t it? The biologists I have visited with say the main reason for AR's is to allow young bucks the time to mature. Will they all grow past 13" inside spread? No, some will and some will not. And I don't remember reading anywhere in the hunting handbook about age restrictions. Well, I think the biologists have their heads up their you know what. It’s a poor management decision. That narrow gene needs to be removed from the herd; and some old deer should be harvested. If I gotta be the judge on spread measurement; then, I should be able to be the judge on the age before I shoot. Yet, I can go shoot another one that’s unbranched? That’s lame
