I saw a post on Facebook in which someone said they have used small rifle primers when reloading for their 6.5 Creedmoor. Has anyone else done this? I’ve only used large in my loads up to this point.
Thanks in advance!

I think it’s a fairly common practice but you have to buy srp brass. I don’t know if it’s worth it unless you’re chasing a certain level of accuracy or speed, unless you have a large supply of srp and not much LRP. In that case it might be worth buying srp brass. Typically if you do that you also have to make changes to your firing pin but not necessarily.

It's kinda too bad the manufacturers don't offer ALL their brass with small and large primer pockets considering the scarcity of large rifle primers these days. But even if they did, they'd get cussed anyway. Some folks are just impossible to please, and I think that would be us.

Lapua makes both. Small primer brass will usually last a lot longer than large because the pockets don’t wear out as soon.

I use mainly SR primers in both 6mm &6.5 Creedmoor mainly as mentioned above to use up my stash of SR and make my LR which has dipped below my time to start looking number of 25k

When using the small rifle primer brass, you get much longer case life also. I've seen 10-16 reloads on good brass with annealing.

Some match shooters that push the pressure limits use SRP Brass for longer case life before the primer pockets loosen. This is common with Palma match shooters trying to get all the velocity they can out of their 308 WIN's. Others claim that the ignition is more consistent and velocity ES and SD are lower using SRP.

One more thing, if you decide to use Lapua SRP brass in your 6.5 CM, be sure your decaping die has a small decaping pin as the flash hole is smaller in the Lapua brass.
