Do not trifle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

I eat them everyday for lunch. The ultimate health food. But recently I spilled a can of smoked sardines in my fabric truck seat. I eat them in the tailgate now. It’s awful

This is why I eat them, tons of omega 3s without any of the mercury and other toxins. Sardines, sharp cheddar cheese, wheat crackers, apples and almond butter everyday for lunch….. slimmed up quick.

There was one kid in our elementary school back about 1964 whose mom made him sardine sammiches on a regular basis until he kept getting beat up.

I started on the smoked herring. (Kipper snacks)
Ingredients are salt, herring, and beechwood smoke.
I’ve tried the Poland, Germany and Canada ones. All are good but Germans are best. It’s my go to for working at the ranch/quick lunch. Love the smokiness on them.
For those that knock the sardine burp/taste, smoked canned herring ain’t got it.

I’ll never go back to sardines.

That’s worthwhile info. I’ll try the herring.

Thought about you today 603 as I was fixing lunch. I had a cup of clam chowder leftover from dinner but I knew it would not be enough for me. Someone on here had mentioned smoked oysters and it made me remember that I had some. Added the oysters to the chowder and with a few buttered club crackers on the side I had a meal.

Tonight I'm fixing chicken and dumplings from scratch as this cool weather is just right for soup.

Seriously try some of the Nuri sardines from Portugal. World Market has them. Or you can buy from Amazon.

Nuri

Even a video

Try Bella Sardines in olive oil from Portugal.

Drain the oil and break up the four fat sardines into chunks. Mix in some horseradish, finely chopped red onion and the hot sauce of your choice (pickle relish optional). Put the mix on Keebler multigrain club crackers and open a cold beer. Hard to beat.

If you can't laugh at yourself, give me a call. I'll gladly laugh at you.
