Anyone here hunt pheasants in Oklahoma? I don’t know if pheasant hunters are like duck hunters but I’m trying to figure out which WMA I should consider visiting. I know a spot in NM but their season is just 4 days. Thanks in advance. up

I read on the ultimate pheasant form that there are huntable numbers on one WMA in OK.

I think Weston Storer is still biologist for both Optima and Beaver. You can look him up the Okla website and call him. His email is (w/o spaces)weston.storer @odwc .ok. gov

as far as panhandle Beaver has more quail, Optima has more pheasants.

western okla around Drummond Flats has pheasants also, honestly Ive killed pheasants along KS border from Osage country to Cimarron county so Id call all those northern WMA’s.

Also Okla has made a big push in the OLAP program,( walkin private access program) lots if milo ant corn, with grass pivot corners.

Thanks. The more I've thought it over, I think I'm more likely to do more than 1 hunt in NM than OK. Maybe next year as I should hopefully have access to a property for OK deer then.

Use the OLAP map link, in the panhandle atleast, those properties tend to hold birds.

I go back and hunt Optima WMA and NWR every few years. Talked to one of my buddies in Hooker this weekend and he said they were not seeing many this year - the rain came, and came hard, but too late in the year. FWIW he was speaking in generalities, not specifically those areas down there on the river.
