Just saw that on MM.
Think it was an escapee from a high fence?

Beautiful buck, congrats to her !!

Ya not HF although I did see someone whining that there is a 6ft fence on parts.

When I saw location, I was hoping it was the Big Orn clan but it wasnt frown none the less out standing job to dad and daughter!

Saw that on social earlier this week. Some people can’t believe big bucks can come off low fence properties. The comments are always good for a laugh

Awesome deer.

Back in 2010-2012 I was hunting on Fort Knox while stationed with the Gold plated Chocolate Bars (was our inside joke) and seen some Bucks that looked like small elk. One day while I was running a range for qualifications we were looking out of the tower and out walked a Buck similar to the one she got. We were not Tankers like Knox once had, but his name became Sabo and I hope he made someone happy before nature got him.

Awesome deer. The only downside is when you kill a buck like that, the expectation of ever killing one even bigger one practically evaporates for life.

Only you could find a perceived negative aspect of killing a once in 3 lifetimes Buck.

If you only hunt to again the max number of inches of antler I guess so. Has never phased my desire or interest in hunting.

Not to mention the big deer taken off public land in Texas each and every season. In fact, the area where this buck was killed might be considered semi-public land. If the Depot is anything like military installations in other parts of the country, all active duty and retired military, as well as base employees are allowed to hunt in designated areas of the base.

As if killing a record buck in a single lifetime is something any of us should worry about.

With all of the deer farming and high fences around the entire state now, how can we ever have another legitimate record of any kind? There is no way to guarantee if a deer is an escapee or even intentionally released. 🤷🏽‍♂️

You realize they killed deer or this size long before high fences and deer breeding? It’s a massive deer but nothing about it indicates it came from a scientific pen.

I’ve killed an animal that is real high up in the record book. When I shot him I wasn’t thinking “ aww shucks, this sucks because I’ll never kill another one close to this size again”

Here is a list of giant deer that were killed on low fence places. Many were before high fences even existed.

Only one in question on the list is the Rompala buck.

No guarantee but its not like some big mystery. Most high fence ranches I have engaged with would immediately know and likely come forward either directly to the hunter or maybe publicly if a potential record deer was shot and there was any question if it was one of their deer or not
