Saw plenty but no shooters. These are typical of what I saw. I did notice a bit of pre rut activity. Here in a about 10-12 days it will be on and as always I'll see some good bucks for the first time. They range large during the rut in this country. First year with the cargo trailer, it's great to just drive to and from the lease without having to pull a trailer each was every trip.







Back at it this coming weekend then a 5 day hunt starting the 17th.

One buck chasing does, other bucks still grouped up, a few lone yearlings......give it a week or two.

A lot smaller than what I've killed the last two years. And, the one in the pic at the feeder has still got to be out there. That is the only pic of him, and never seen live.

Nothing new, but I've got a nice 10 and a tank of an 8 that have been hanging around, especially the 8. Lots of daytime pics...
But that 8, man, he gives my 600lb Lamco a run for its money.

Thanks! Makes it hard to score for me (not like I'm some guru anyway). But with my experiences in Kansas (two 150s and a 140) and here in the panhandle, body sizes often make antlers appear smaller to me. In any case, they're mature enough.

About to hit it again, hope to see some new arrivals. I'm still betting on the 18th-22nd to be peak rut.

Last weekend, definite pre rut with a little more activity. Saw some first time visitors to my set up doing some cruising. Headed out Friday to hunt the 18th-22nd. I'll hunt mule deer in the AM, whitetails from noon to dark. White tail rut should be on so it will be 100% whitetail hunting Monday-Wednesday. Anyone seeing any panhandle rut activity? Last year I killed a good buck chasing a doe on 11-20, saw a buck mount a doe on 11-22, my hunting partner saw a buck breed a doe on 12-3.
