Who makes the best? I want to be able to walk and not get blisters, safely use climbing sticks, and I’d love if they lasted more than a season or two.

I bought a pair of Muck Boots last year, and I’m not impressed. Less than a year of light use and they leak like a sieve. Also give me blisters if I’m hiking around. Never again.

My Canadian guide has a pair of Lacrosse that were fitted and he loved them. Hiked several miles a day in them.

Do you know if they’re old or new? I’ve heard their quality has gone way down hill in the last few years. I have a buddy who has a pair from the 90s that are still going strong though…

Lacrosse. Where I grew up, mud was what we dealt with, and Lacrosse rubber boots were what we all used. I have some here in Texas, but hardly ever use them. When we have mud, it’s watery. That Louisiana mud was serious stuff.

I've been wearing these for about 20yrs or so. A pair last me about 3-4yrs. Not something you'd go hiking in, but I've worn them all day many times without issue.

Check out Chene. I have their waders and their short boots and both are extremely comfortable.

Wish I’d found short boots years ago

It's a good question... I have a 10 year old pair of Mucks that are still going strong, but I'm certain the quality, like many other brands, has fallen off. I'm about due for a new pair and am very interested in others' recent experience.

LaCrosse Alpha Evolution. Pricey but the best I’ve found.

Everybody in Alaska wear these 24/7, The ones in the pic are insulated as I wear in the winter. They did not need breaking in. If you order online There is some sort of discount on the first purchase. Xtratuf

Those are my brand as well, I don't think anyone can match them in quality and comfort.

Learned about those in college and bought a pair. People at the hunting club in Mississippi i grew up hunting with laughed about my mickey mouse boots but i just said laugh if you want but they were warm and comfortable. Within a couple years most were wearing the same boots, Insulated lacrosse boots and i used a thick felt insole which helped with fit and warmth.

Tractor Supply sells a great pair. Don't know the brand but they're gray.
I've walked and hunted in them for years.

Around 1997 I bought a pair of Rocky Realtree scent free rubber boots and they were incredible. Wore them for right at 20 years before they started to split. Sadly Rocky ain’t what they use to be so I can’t justify $100 for another pair. Lately I have just been wearing some $30 green rubber boots from Walmart when creek fishing. No complaints after about 5 years but they ain’t insulated so I wouldn’t recommend them for fall or winter.

Thanks for the recommendations! Have y’all had any experience with Dry Shod? It looks like it’s between them and Lacrosse.

Go try them both on and make the decision off comfort. Good luck

I bought a pair of Lacrosse in the 90's that lasted a very long time, wore them all over bow hunting. I just wear the cheapies now when I need rubbers.

Not sure what muck boots you got, I got these this season, so far I love them for what I use them for, getting in and out my boat, duck hunting/fishing, not a lot of hiking. Very comfortable, lightweight, soft, folds and stores away easy.

Not for heavy hiking, sounds like you need something more heavy duty for hiking, I will tell you proper fit and socks make a big difference with blisters. I have done my share of long walk-in public ducking hunting in rubber boots.

I've tried about 5 different pairs over the last 2 years trying to find the right ones. Finally settled on these LaCross Grange uninsulated for night hunting hogs during summer. We do a lot of walking and these are comfortable. No clue on longevity because I've only used them for a few months but so far so good.
