Winter will be here before you know it. I’ve been cutting and splitting wood all summer long. I’ve got about 2 cords at my place just south of Hearne and over 2 cords at my place in Franklin. $200 a cord, $100 for half or $50 for truck bed load. I also have close to a 1/2 cord that is free. This wood was “puffy” when I split it. It will make good fire pit wood.
Also, any firewood bought, I’ll throw in a bag of my homemade charcoal as long as I have some.

All the wood at the Hearne place is post oak. Most of the wood at my Franklin place is post oak but started bringing in some wood from my east Texas lease and it’s Pin Oak.

Starting to cool off. All wood is under cover too.

I’m getting low. Doubt I will be cutting any more. Got some already cut, just need to split it. Might have about 2 cords left when it’s all said and done. When the big freeze hits, all wood will go up in price lol!!!

That’s a fair price, there’s no way I would cut and split wood for $200/cord, but I’m older now.
I would have to have at least $300 not delivered.

Unfortunately (in East Texas) the "Pin Oak" label gets applied to quite a few Oaks that are actually something else. Most commonly Water Oak (if that is your meaning here), since there are no true Pin Oaks in Texas (save a few examples in far Northeast Texas).

Water Oak (properly dried) can make decent firewood...but one word of caution: If not covered and kept dry it rots QUICKLY. Otherwise it makes an OK 'fuel' wood. It tends to have a smell to it that some folks don't like. I don't find it objectionable. But given a choice (here in East Texas) I'll take Post Oak, Blackjack, White Oak, Shumard Oak or any of the Hickories first.

But yes, folks need to get their firewood now. Remember last winter with the terrible snow and ice storms!
