My brother found this half-buried along a fence in southern Oklahoma yesterday. Looks kind of like a bayonet-turned-knife. No blood groove though. Have any ideas?

It’s not junk.

That’s an awesome find

It looks like it started its life as an Enfield Bayonet to me.

Maybe bklt2 accidentally left that when he stopped for lunch while he was on his government stint relocating the Indians to NE Oklahoma.

Prolly made a pass at Elizabeth Warren while on the trip…

Whoever made it wouldn’t have lost it unless something happened to them. Maybe some ungrateful heir.

Neat find up

Find a way to remove the rust that might expose more info on the blade.

That is cool. Maybe a pig sticker (possibly made from a bayonet) lost during a night with the dogs.

Do you know the best way to do that?

My Grandpa had one kind of like that. He called it a pig sticker.

Boot knife or pig sticker is my guess. Go back and look around, maybe a dead bad guy skeleton under the fence.

Shoot. Eat. Repeat.

That blade looks really thick. What does it measure at the pommel?

PVC pipe or something similar that the blade will fit into. Fill with white vinegar and two tablespoons of salt. Just cover the blade with it. After the rust is gone in a day or two, pull it and wash with water and baking soda to stop the process. Oil it immediately and a few times over the next couple of hours.
