Is a great miniseries (2001) about the heroes of "Easy Company" in WWII. I had never seen it until this weekend. That generation of men will never be duplicated again. They gave all. salute

Both bamd of brothers and the pacific are great miniseries.

I agree that was a great generation, and they gave it all they had. I have questioned repeatedly if the current generation would give the same. I think no, and then i see things that give me hope if we needed them to. I really really hope and pray we never need to determine that though. War sucks

I watched it for a second time last week. A couple episodes each night. Read the book first, a few years ago. Fantastic.

Band of brothers is great.

Reaffirmed my abhorrence for David Schwimmer at the same time.

I also watch The Pacific last week, but not as impressed with it. I believe the men who had to face the Japanese on those islands had to face a completely different kind of soldier compared to the Germans though. The atomic bomb saved many, many thousand American lives.

I hated his character in the series (Herbert Maxwell Sobel). The link below is a pretty interesting read on how members of Easy Company actually felt about him.

As you mention, completely different sort of war. The Pacific series was based on two good books:

We went to ToccoaGA a couple weeks ago. Great little museum downtown in the old train station. Nice waterfall just outside of town. Both worth the time to visit if you’re in the area.

Not far from south of Tallulah Gorge State Park. A series of eight waterfalls within the gorge. Also well worth the time.

I tried to post pictures but they are too large to post and it’s too big a PITA to resize them on my phone. Plenty of pictures and information on the web.
