Anybody here run a roll-off dumpster business?

I’m looking into buy a few, both for personal use and rentals. These will be on a gooseneck trailer, I’m not interested in buying a larger truck specifically for dumpsters.

I rented a roll-off last year and the guy had a trailer with a winch setup that he pulled with his Ram 3500. Pretty easy, dropped it off and then came back in a week to pick up. Biggest problem I see is people putting crude in the bottom that the landfill would reject as toxic or whatever. You know there are folks that will try to sneak tires, chemical, etc.

Yep, and that’s why you keep a credit card on file and charge them for over weight and illegal trash. But honestly, most landfills around here don’t pay attention.

Overweight, overfill… lots of money to be made but lots of headache, too. My wife’s cousin runs a business like this and is very successful with it, granted he’s worked his [censored] off building it up.

Every time I’m calling around for one, all I ever hear I can get you on the schedule for 2-3 weeks. That tells me there is room in the market to make a little money.

I bought a 16' Rawmaxx to use for our custom homes...Haven't had any problems yet but haven't used it a whole lot either....I take it to a transfer station and unload on a concrete pad instead of driving through the landfill....It does cost a little more at transfer station but don't have to worry about flats near as much....
