I am far more active on THF so I will post this here.

My name is Capt. Addison Rhudy, and I run GordaFly Charters on the upper Texas coast specializing in fly fishing & light tackle fishing trips out of Matagorda and Galveston. Fishing is white hot right now, and we are chasing shallow water reds and drum daily. Check out my website and social media for updates, and I will post some pictures here.

Fishing should stay pretty hot through end of November/mid December.

I also can help with lodging recommendations for anyone needing a night.

This front is going to have fish going crazy, and on the backside water will be crystal clear and make for exciting fishing.

On the back side of front with calm winds and clear skies we have absolutely been thrashing on redfish with flies.

Water is clear as the Caribbean right now, and reds are hungry. We've been getting started a little later in the morning and fishing into the afternoon. Matagorda is the closest spot on the coast to the Austin area, and there is minimal pressure compared to places like POC, Rockport and Port A. Spin fishing is always an option as well, if you don't fly fish. Sightfishing for these reds is something that will have you coming back for more.

Spring is here, and great fishing is right around the corner. Whether you are a seasoned fly fisherman, or just getting started, come down to the coast and chase redfish with me. The warming water will have the reds starting to school again, making for exciting fishing. I fish both Matagorda and Galveston areas, and can recommend top notch lodging at both locations. Please just msg me for more details, you can go to gordafly.com, and of course follow me on social @gordafly.

Spring bite is starting to fire off. There are a lot of upper slot and mini-bulls up shallow eating now. It is only going to get better as it warms up. If sightcasting to hungry redfish sounds like fun, then let's get on the skiff!!

Time to get my rod some exercise at the pond. You sure do use light rods. How long to land those big ones?

Usually we use a 7 or 8 wt rod on redfish, and it takes a few minutes to get them in. We're in really shallow water so they can't dive in deep water dragging out a fight.

Summer is right around the corner, and we can get away from these springs winds. I have limited availibilty on weekends through June, but plenty of weekdays open. When people ask what time to come to the coast and fly fish, I tell them from Memorial day to Christmas. So we're about there, and I expect it to be a great summer and fall. Just reach out on here or txt/call 281.702.5270
