This doe and fawn have been on my property. Coat appears darker. Is it a melanistic deer. I have a video of them running at a different time. Their gait isn’t a typical gallop but a hop like a mule deer. Do white tails hop like that. I’ll try to post the video but don’t know if I can. The third doe in some of the pictures helps to show some of the color difference. Don’t tell me it’s a black panther[Linked Image]

Those look like Sika to me.

I’ve seen two menalistic whitetail in my life. Those are not them.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I was wondering if Sika, the head looks smaller, more antelope looking.

If you are East or South of Longview it is very possible. I live between Longview and Hallsville and we have several black Whitetail does that cruise the neighborhood. I hunt on the North side of the Sabine River and have seen a couple of black Whitetail Bucks over the years. None were wide enough to kill.

100% regular whitetail with slightly darker coat eating in the shade.
