It’s also possible to be completely happy and proud with an animal and still not claim it’s a trophy. There is a middle ground between the only most exceptional specimens are trophy’s and the everything is a trophy crowd.
For most a trophy bass is 10 lbs. some areas 8 lbs would be it. A 30” speckled trout is the benchmark for coastal fisherman. Not a lot of arguing on fishing forums that a 4 lb bass or a 22” trout is a trophy.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

30” is also the minimum for Star. No other reason to keep 30” sow other then potential $$$$$ money. But the most or highest coveted is a fat heavy 23 9/10 trout or fat 27 8/9 Red

Agree with this. The "everything is a trophy" idea is the equivalent of the participation award for children....sorry, I just don't buy into that. I have killed some animals that I was super proud of, but calling them a trophy is kind of silly. IMO, there's only two stipulations for a trophy buck...it must be low fence and 140"+.

A trophy is in the eye of the hunter. If he/she is happy it is a trophy.
