So a kid takes a day off school to go to the Texas Rangers game watching party. His Mom calls it a "self-care" Day???!!

No wonder we suck as a society

It’s called skipping school. Call a spade a spade. They could have recorded the game and watched it they got home.

I don't know this kid you speak of but I have zero problems with a kid skipping some days doing some fun stuff if he does his work.

My Dad used to periodically pull me out of school to do fun things, but he wouldn't do it if my grades weren't good and I wasn't toeing the line so to say. He called them mental health days...

This.
People set their priorities where they want. I'm sure there are more than a couple people on this forum that take their kids out for opening weekend just to shoot a basket 8.

That's right. As long as my grades were up my Dad would pull me out of school once in a while for either a half or a full day to go deer hunting. Those were always my most favorite days!

Yep. I took my son out of school to have lunch and then bought him his first AR. It was a very good day and gave us great memories.

You also won't see them playing Div 1 football or having more than one sister. What does China have to do with anything?

why would any one care why I pull my kid out of school? How petty do you have to be.

I don't see a problem with it. I’m an adult man and have taken mental health days. Sometimes you just got to open the pressure relief valve during the week.

What Judd and others said. If you’re gettin’ it done, no harm/no foul. Can’t say my pop ever did that for me but he didn’t have a problem the few times I did it for myself with a couple pals.

My youngest son shot his first cow elk in New Mexico missing a couple of days of school. As far as the school knew we were at a family reunion. roflmao

It was his senior year, had good grades and never in trouble. Yes we went elk hunting.

Took my son out several times. He turned out ok.

Opening day of deer season was a school holiday where I grew up.

I started putting my 10 year old daughter in for every NM youth tag I can, I decided that next year she doesn't draw any tags she gets to go bear hunting in Oct

We used to get Opening Day of hunting season off if we brought our hunting license to the office at school.
