Lost my only sibling 07/28/90 to a car accident. I was in the military at the time getting ready to deploy to the Sinai for peace keeping duties. We had just started our block leave prior to deployment. Mom was on her way to Ft. Campbell to visit me when I got the word. I had to tell Mom that Bryan had passed, hardest thing I've ever done in my life. While on leave Iraq invaded Kuwait, that day I got the call to RTB. We were scattered all over the country. Two weeks later we were in the desert. I wasn't worried what would happen to me but what would happen to Mom and Dad if anything did. Dad hardly watched TV unless it was the Cowboys or news or a John Wayne movie, watched TV from the time he got home until bedtime hoping for a glimpse of me. Mom did the same and crocheted. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him.

Was sitting in a deer blind at the Fox Pasture between Beeville and Refugio on the Medio Creek when the phone call came in my brother, a UPS delivery man, unepectedly died in his sleep at his cabin up at Lake Somerville. He was in his his early forties and in great shape. We spread his ashes in that lake.

Lost my sister to a car crash. Thought my daddy was going to die from grief for about six months. Gradually got better, but never got over it.

Lost my younger brother to communism and not to death. We used to be really close, he hasn't spoken to me since November of 2015.

Brother died when he was 41. It was hard for all of us, but especially my kids (his nieces) and my mom.

Lost my older brother a couple of years ago. He and I grew up together. Slept in the same bed when we were little. Grew up working hard together. He was a special human being.

He's dancing in Heaven today with the Lord and I celebrate that with him.

My heart goes out to those that have lost a spouse.
Cannot imagine how hard that must be to lose the love of your life, the person you wake up and go to bed with every night, the mother or father of your children.

I worry about that daily because of the age difference between my wife and I. It has become my life's mission to prepare for my death and to set her and our children up for life once I am gone.

My greatest fear is leaving my wife destitute if something happens to me. I've got two pensions, an annuity, a couple of life policies and social security thats hers.

I’m the only one left. Parents, brother, sister ,grandparents, about 10 cousins gone on both sides of the family.

But, I have 3 daughters with children and one granddaughter who has 4 kids living in Seattle. The grandchildren and daughters have their own life. I see them but not as often as I would like. They’re busy with their own lives.

My mom has never been the same. I’m almost 40 years old and she still wants to know play by play travel arrangements.

When my first brother passed, I seriously thought my mother was going to die of grief right after that, she was getting somewhat better then the other brother passed.
It took many years after that before mom (Betty Baby) could or would have a normal conversation with you.
Like most mom's, our mom's life was all about her children.

I mentioned in my original post that I have 3 others on the right side of the dirt, was only referring to brothers, I should have said 6, I have three sisters also.
