Currently starting the process to look for my daughters first vehicle. Interested in an SUV, car or possibly Jeep. Not tiny cars or trucks. Ideal range would be $8-12K. Just really looking for a well maintained and reliable used vehicle. Thanks

Asking price is a little high but I would look for something like this. If you think it might be something you "could" be interested in I can go up and check it out for you next week. If it is still there. https://www.carfax.com/vehicle/5N1AN0NU9DN822592

I've got one for ya. Very reliable and will run over everything so you don't have to worry about her.

I have owned 4 jeeps. I would not recommend any of them for an inexperienced driver. Great vehicles just not as first vehicle. Just my 2 cents.

Honda or Toyota Mini Van ... lot's of safety ... and they won't want to show off.

My daughters are now 22 and 20, but we purchased Toyota Corollas for both of them several years ago. I know the price is not what you are looking for, but those little cars are safe, reliable and easy to drive well. You don't have to buy brand new, but get the best safety features you can. The oldest was t-boned crossing a street by an unlicensed driver who was texting. All of the airbags deployed and the crumple zones worked. She had a small scratch on her wrist and was shaken, but otherwise unhurt.
Also, get a dashcam. The driver who hit her claimed he had the green light. We played the dashcam for the cops and daughter clearly had a green light.
Good luck. Stock up on Tums, too. You will have some anxiety over her driving alone.
