So, I'm actually trying to concentrate of shooting some groups and whistle britches decides to shoot his AR. 100 yards, BUIS. He shot the wood baffle twice. Muzzle was inside the bench, so, the blast stayed inside too. Not the best conditions. The DA RO couldn't think to put the guy a few benches down from me. I was the only one there. What I get for going there. I had to chrono my super-duper test loads.

Spatial awareness, people. Also, etiquette, and respect for others. Unless the RO put him there, I’d have said something to him. Or, pulled out the .454 and backed up as far as I could on the bench! laugh

I feel your pain. I've had my own range for over 10 years and don't miss the public shooting range.

Agree that either the RO or the AR bozo was not thinking. At the county-owned range in La Luz, NM, where I worked, we ended up closing the 50-yard range to firearms firing centerfire rifle cartridges. We would have a father trying to teach his young daughter how to shoot a .22, and then some clown would take a nearby bench and start doing AR-10 mag dumps. Made everyone angry except Mr. Clueless.

I have not shot there in years but ran into similar before, just went inside and ask to move from the offender and did especially when range wasn't busy.

We went one day that was pretty busy, they ask if er were shooting anything real loud, and between 2 of us we had a 7mmSTW and 300WBY both with muzzle breaks. he said there was a guy being a pain but not quite enough to kick him out and there was an open bench on each side. we went out and setup, with everything setup to shoot other than load and shoot. Cease fire, went and set targets then back, as soon as Rage was hot we sent a round each down range, guy had not put his hearing protection on yet, worked he left pretty quickly, like as soon as he could.

Use to shoot at one quite a bit. The guy who ran it was a jerk. Very impatient ALWAYS rude, and seemed like the busier the range the more upset he was. Not sure what happened but one day it was a complete 180 and after that he was always great to deal with. Even when he was an azz he was always good about who he put next you etc.

With today's societal decay in anything resembling grace and common courtesy, I sure don't miss having to go to a range. Kudos for y'all's patience. up

Can you request not to have people placed beside you? I feel bad when my wife and I show up to shoot and we get placed next to someone doing the same as you. I ask them constantly if we are bothering them and I try minding my brass when they’re to the right.

Sadly not everyone thinks the same.

I thought you had given up bitching?

There is a bench between y'all and it's a public range...plus, he setup to the right of you so he's not throwing brass your direction.

I swear, people would bitch if you hung them with a new rope rofl

Seriously...it's Garland, I'm shocked they didn't put him on the next bench to your left so you'd be flinching everytime you caught a piece of brass out of the corner of your eye. I'm impressed, maybe the place is getting better.

Just come in over to elm fork! cheers

The RO at the 100 yd range does a pretty good job spacing everyone out.

It’s not typically “the people of wal-mart” out there everyday (except for weekends)

my white rifle has an obnoxious brake on it. I had already put it up when these three showed up.

these guys were just trying to have a good time shooting, just didnt have a clue. The RO should have taken over a given them some direction. I did keep my eye on that muzzle though.

I like the older guy that is the RO on the 100 yd range at Elm Fork. Very good as far as how that range is run.

Not a big fan of Garland.

Garland made those stations much too narrow after the flood. I’m sure to pack more people in. Once they raised their range fee to $25, the crowds thinned out. Some days it’s really bad to shoot well there with the narrow stations. At lest there are less short barrel ARs with pistol braces rattling your teeth with the pistol brace ban. The last few times I went were actually nice.

If your are next to someone with a muzzle brake, it’s pretty miserable. Just too close.

That’s when I would drag out my .338 Win Mag with a Lil B@stard brake. If nothing else, it would clear all the loose items off his bench… grin

The 50BMG worked real good for that as well. Something about sending 750gr bullet down range pushed by 217.5gr powder to get folks attention, and yes for the heck of it I have fired that at the Garland range the weekend before deer season. It does clear anything loose off benches on either side of me.
