During a meeting the workers were getting irate with him and accused him of backing the union and buying them fancy vehicles. He said you could have heard a pin drop when he explained that the business did not give the union a penny, but the extravagant parade they saw was paid for by union dues.
During a strike, the union bosses still get a full paycheck, and it is much more than even the best of workers.

My first taste of unions was in 83. General dynamics was on strike and I was a young airman at my first duty base. I had to pass by the picket line on the way to work and got pelted with beer bottles. Mind you I was driving a crappy car making $520/mo. F unions and the scum that runs them. The only upside was the local fire department decided they needed a shower and alcohol was banned from the picket line.

Had a Union Electrician on a job; 5 minutes left to finish a task but it was the break time (Union Rules). By the time they put their tools away, took a break, pull their tools back out, the task took an extra 1.5 hours to complete. Our company was operated out of the NE USA; even though local bids were lower (By Quality Companies) a Union based company was chosen a day prior to the bid openings. No announcement, just angry contractors calling me out of the blue asking what happened!
I have NO LOVE for Unions!!

Ordered a new Tacoma about 4 to 6 weeks ago and put down a deposit. Friday the sales lady called me and told me that the price had gone up 13k because of the UAW strike. This was for a truck with a 38k and some change sticker price.

I'm with Skinner... wtf

P.S. I'm fairly certain Toyota wouldn't take too kindly to one of their dealers doing that... but are Toyota employees even part of the UAW? I thought they weren't. confused2

Years ago, I was in a carpenter union building the Fairmont in Dallas. Went to work one morning, the hoist men were on
strike. Whole damn job shut down because of one man. This was at a time when i REALLY needed a job to feed my family.
Needless to say, good by carpenter union. realmad

Listening to the "Car Show" earlier coming back from a funeral. He said with this strike, other brands have zero reason to give any incentives and all cars are going to be at a premium.

No joke. I'm glad I bought our two new ones already this year. That 7 month wait I had on the Power Wagon don't seem so bad now. I hope nothing breaks on them. Warranty parts might end up tough to get and dealers will start selling their loaners again.

We were having fairly major issues getting parts BEFORE the strike...still digging out of the Covid era cars that were sold incomplete. Modules are taking 6-8 weeks in many cases, regardless of UAW. Our new and used inventory is fine and we're still getting new vehicles in...just 10% of our parts.

Pass the gravy.

I told them to stick it. I gave them 5k and will get it back eventually because I put it on an American Express card. The only down side is that I need a new truck for work and can't hire a new guy without one and don't want the headache of having someone working daily out of a beater. I have a baby due in late March or early April and promised my wife that I wouldn't be working 85 hour work weeks anymore.

Been looking for a used one. Something weird is going on. 80% that are listed are late 20's to 30's Hispanic males. That seems odd and possibly a scam.

Yes. You have to filter them a bit. It’s worth it though.
