I’ve always just drank water too but starting to drink Gatorade also when really hot and sweaty. Does most agree Gatorade stuff is helpful and specifically what? I drink a bottle of G2 Zero during my bike ride, it seems to do well, I also carry a 21 oz of cold water.

Age has a lot to do with it. I used to weld all day in 100 degree heat. No way now. I have started walking around 5:30 am for get home around 7 am. Chill out for about an hour and go ride bikes with the wife for another hour. Get back to the house around 9:15, my body has seemed to acclimatize to the heat quit well this year.

I buy it in the 90 serving containers and the first go round I bought watermelon and orange. For whatever reason the orange doesn't seem to dissolve all the way in water but the watermelon does. I liked it so much that I got back online and ordered another $200 worth of the stuff. It makes a big difference in your energy levels through the day.

Thanks for the update blkt2. How many are you using in a typical day. I try to drink 2 or 3 small bottles of Gatorade thru the summer for reference.

Killing your dog with heat stroke. With practically no ability to sweat, a dog isn't going to cool off very well inhaling hot air.

Running out of fuel on a diesel tractor in the middle of a field in July and trying to get it restarted at 2:00pm in the afternoon.
Getting same said tractor stuck in the mud and trying to extract it by myself in high temp/humidity East Texas until I got Heat Exhaustion.

I work outside 12 to 14 hours per day. I bring 2.5 gallons of water with me and mix a packet of liquid IV in it and normally finish all of it in a day. If I am working in one spot for long I use a large umbrella and a fan. Recently heard about Liquid IV and need to look into it. I wish it had less sugar, but it really seems to help me avoid over-heating migraines. (When I actually, finally, get outside and do some real work, which is exceedingly rare.) I only use a single packet for all 2.5 gallons. Sugar is not your friend when you are working in the heat. On the rare occasions I drink Gatorade I have to dilute it about 5 to 1 or I feel like I'm drinking maple syrup. Liquid IV has been a game changer for me. If I drink enough of it EVERY day. There is a sugar free fersion of the lemon lime on Amazon. I had tried everything from Gatorade to Nunn tablets. Gatorade never worked for me and the Nunn tablets were a giant leap in hydration for me. I must have something wrong with my body because I know a lot of people who swear by Gatorade. I have a friend who works for a big national pipeline company and they have lots of field guys working in the heat. Their ES&H dept. did a huge study on all the electrolyte repleneshers and determined that Liquid IV outperformed all others including Nunn tablets. I'm sure some of the newer ones that have come outsince then might beat Liquid IV. I drink 1 packet in 32 ozs of water and do 2 of those a day sometimes 3 and lots of just plain water in between. Seems to work for me. Prior to that I could drink 2 gallons of water in a day and lots of gatorade and still sweat it all out out to where my shirt would literally be wringing wet and not need to pee all day. Nunn and Liquid IV changed that for me. I'm going to try Ultima replenisher and see how it compares. You definitely need to hydrate well the day before being out in the heat. I wish I knew exactly how all that works. And pickle juice definitely works for cramps.

I am prone to bad leg cramps if I get dehydrated. A friend got me started drinking a glass of Spicy V8 juice that really prevents cramps and actually stops active cramps.

Fishing in August. No wind. 110. Looking for big fish, which I've caught in the hottest part of Summer on the hottest days.
Not this day. Got swimmey headed and had to jump in the lake.
Probably saved my life that day.

I use sugar free Liquid IV in a 20 oz bottle of water and a bottle of water while at the range and a bottle of Body Armor Lite on the way home. I get to the range by daylight and try to leave no later than 11 am, can not take the heat. Can't do any work outside in the heat for more than a couple of hours.

Liquid IV. I keep several bags of packets on hand. Lipton diet green tea in mixed berry flavor is my go to drink, put a packet of strawberry Liquid IV in it and i'm good to go.
