New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham's controversial comments in defense of a temporary gun ban, prompted fierce backlash on social media.

The Democrat issued an emergency public health order on Friday, suspending the right to carry guns in public across Albuquerque and the surrounding Bernalillo County for at least 30 days following the shooting deaths of three children in the area.

Local law enforcement officials expressed concerns that the governor's order violated Second Amendment rights. The governor acknowledged the ban may face legal challenges and addressed these concerns during a press conference.

Hopefully someone with legal backing challenges it with a peaceful open carry. It would be interesting if law enforcement actually arrests, issues a citation etc.

So everyday citizens cannot carry. But during riots open carry is perfectly acceptable.

Any cop who enforces her order is nothing more than a jack booted thug who deserves no quarter.

Nothing but a political stunt. I just talked with a Deputy there and he said not only will it not be enforced, but they all laughed when it was disseminated.

Her policy does NOT trump state law.

She is a Democrat nothing is going to happen to her in fact she will probably get a sniff from potato head.

The state is some kinda messed up. Given its history, I'm convinced the populace pretty much ignores government or politics.

How can this go into effect if the Governor does not have the authority to do this? Seems like everyone should go on with their day as if nothing happened.

Effect and enforced are very different.

Governor is getting massaged under the table by a couple dozen other D governors that wanna know if this test balloon pops.

She put a 30 day clock on it just to minimize the lawsuits. It’s all just for show for her base.

I guess she'll run for a federal office. This kind of publicity will bring in the liberal money from out of state.

Typical left-wing thinking, the criminals are committing crimes of violence, so the governor takes guns away from law abiding people...pure brilliance.
