Anyone going this weekend? I haven't been in years, guess I'll go to see what I can blow my money on.

The first thing you will blow your money on is getting in! $10-$20 to park and $20 to get in. Then walk around and don't spend because you can get it cheaper on Amazon!

I miss going to gun shows. But, once I park and pay admission for wife and I, its too expensive.

Plan on going to the one in Ft Worth. It’s been at least 5 years since I have been to one.

Yeah, I'd actually considered going down to the San Antonio one until this thread took the wind out of my sails. frown I really don't need a dam thing and I think the parking and admission are more about keeping the association afloat than actually helping and making $ for their vendors. I remember many years ago now happening to be in Vegas for a work tradeshow, finding out the PH I'd hunted with in Zim was at the SCI show going on concurrently, walking up to admission to the SCI show, and the person telling me it was $100.00 to get in. What the hell? To walk around a tradeshow and spend money? I turned around and walked away. What a scam.

This. I will not pay a cover charge to spend my money. Like Dave said by the time the two of us pay to park then pay the admission fee your at 55.00 - 60.00 bucks. No thanks.

Geez guys! It is way more than parking and entry! Make it a fun weekend in Fort Worth - go to the Stockyards which is awesome in itself. Walking around seeing great displays, trips, etc. is a blast - I have gone to them for years and enjoy it even if I do not buy a thing

If I wasn't so far away, I'd go in a heartbeat. The FW hunters extravaganza played a significant roll in me getting my career.

We went for lots of years, but it`s the same thing and stuff every year plus I`m a tight a$$ now and not going to pay 20 bucks per and parking. The crowds used to be terrible once you got in and it was hard just to walk thru it. I can only imagine it more crowded now. Been there and done that. smile ani

Unfortunately, the association does not get money for parking. NRG was charging $20 in Houston last week and I agree $20 is too much to park a car for a few hours. I do enjoy working the shows and seeing folks that I see only once a year and that is at the TTHA shows. Ft. Worth has always been a great show and very well attended...we will see what effect Bidenomics, the excessive heat and high fuel costs have on attendance this year.
I hope to see you there. Steve and I will be in booth 863 and I will be doing seminars.
Adios,
Gary

Looks like there is a free shuttle for the Ft Worth show, so no parking fee. A little annoying that kids over 12 are the same price as adults. My family is almost always out of town on the weekend that this Ft Worth show is, including this weekend, but I do want to check it out one year.

Well, you could eat lunch at home and save $50 and go support some like minded folks trying to make a living. We will probably go here in San Antonio although parking fees kinda irritate me for some reason.

I think that Bexar County owns the facility at San Antonio and gets the parking fees. Hope to see you in San Antonio in a week or so.

I do remember going to the Hunters Extravaganza back in the 90's when parking was $5-$10 and getting in was free with a voucher that anyone could get at certain retailers. Then you could get in and come out with 3 bags full of free stuff. Free chewing tobacco, dip, gadgets, etc.

The internet has made these shows a waste of time

The last ttha show i went to was in corpus, i wont go back, the way they handled the deer contest was a total joke. I use to enjoy going to them when i was a kid, but now i can find everything with my phone. Booking an expensive trip overseas or in Alaska, would be one thing, but thats what SCI etc are for.

If you come by my booth I will load you up with Ruger, Hornady and Trijicon swag. Stickers, koozies, bandanas, badges, pins, etc. I also have a few CARNIVORE stickers that were really popular in Houston last week.
You will also be able to put your hands on the FREQ which has the predator calling world buzzing.
Adios,
Gary

Seems to me the number of people who attend is down from previous years...maybe it is just me. $20. plus parking will make me stay home.

I went on Friday, nothing like it used to be and attendance was way down and less and less hunting stuff there. For those of you that didn't go, you didn't miss anything.

Friday was slow but Saturday and Sunday were pretty good. Lots of folks by the booth and by Saturday evening, I had pretty much lost my voice. 110 degree heat no doubt affected the attendance. While there's lots of booths that don't have anything to do with hunting, I thought there were lots of blinds, feeders, outfitters, knives, etc. there. Things are spread out way more than they were in Will Rogers. Yes, parking is too expensive. I think they need to figure out a way to lower the cost of admission.
Adios and See you in San Antonio,
Gary

I went Friday (Ft Worth) and thought the show was Good. I had a "hit list" and all my expectations were met. I agree, the parking is a problem, but parking pretty much sucks everywhere these days. I am glad the show is back in Ft Worth (vs Dallas).

I thought Ft Worth was bad. The tables were spread apart to help take up space but the back half was empty and it’s the same crap.
