Opening week was tough in Maine but I managed to trick one using Elusive Wildlife Pig Oil. Taken with an Umarex Hammer .50 cal PCP at 18 yards with a 350 grain flat nose slug. Entered point of shoulder 1/4 to me exited in front of the opposite hind 1/4 taking out both lungs and heart. Bear weighed 151 went about 20 yards.

I agree with you.
From what I have read, the Indians were scared of a gun that didn't go boom and didn't have smoke come out of the end of the barrel.
