Most folks consider Dove Season as the beginning of hunting season. And with new licenses having gone on sale earlier this month, it kind of makes sense.
So then, with the Dove Season Opener set for this Friday in much of the state, how many are ready and how many plan to buy a new license at a later date?
Yes, I have my new license (68%, 42 Votes)

I have my license but I don't hunt doves any longer. Dove hunting was something I did with my father but since he passed away I have a hard time doing it. Don't have anybody to go with and hunting them alone just isn't the same.

Hope to hack one of these Texas hogs I have heard so much about before too awful long -- just an eater is all I want, but will do my part in the jihad if asked. Also need to pester some catfish.

I used to love to go dove hunting, my dad would pick me up from school back in early elementary school and we headed to various stock tanks around the county, kill our limit, go home, breast them out, mom would cook and that was dinner. We had access to literally hundreds of different properties around the county I grew up in.
then after college, I had a lease that was about 30 minutes from the house, took many friends out dove hunting, same thing, come home, breast out and I would cook them for dinner.
I used to have a bunch of friends around Gtown and we would find some local farmers that just cut corn/milo and go out several times each week for the first 2-3 weeks. One of those guys hosted an annual 3 day dove hunt around San Angelo / Water Valley, it was a great time, good food, fun with friends and we would bring home plenty of birds.
most of those guys are older and have pretty much given up hunting and my family doesn't care much for dove anyway prepared. so I don't get out much for dove hunting, plus no place close by to hunt.
to the survey, yes, I ordered mine online the first day available and have since they started doing the online thing.

I have a Lifetime Combo. Always have a license. Same here. Think I quit dove hunting when people started asking $100 a gun to kill 15 itty bitty birds. That’s when I said enough is enough. But, I always try to get my license when they go on sale the 15th, that way I can buy the Annual Public Hunting Permit. You got to have that in order to apply for the E-Postcard hunts and that deadline is September first. If it wasn’t for that, I probably wouldn’t get mine printed out till bow season.
