Limited out Friday at Stompy’s Place as well as other folks did. Better birds than past few years, and once I made some adjustments, was making much better shots. Couple of times i had To make multiple trips looking for down birds, but did find all but 1.
It was a great feeling being able to limit out, but the best part is being out in the field was the Stars are brighter and the peace and quiet were excellent (prior to shooting hours).

*When unsuccessfully shooting 12 YO shells, try newer/different brand.
* never give in looking for down birds after one search
* wearing shorts are nice in hot weather, but not for tracking through sunflower fields
* Enjoy the hunt and all that goes with it. If you focus on kill numbers, you miss the rewards of getting out in the field.

Solid. It is tempting to keep shooting after a downed bird. I do all the time when I have them down in a certain or open spot. But if they land in cover, it's best to never take your eyes off that spot and head directly there. I did not do that yesterday AM on one bird and it took me a solid 10 minutes to finally find it.

Not always the easiest thing to do when they are flying around you, but if you shoot that bird, it deserves to have max effort to find it.

Thanks for coming out Chris, lots of limits this weekend, even a few today. Good times, a lot better than last year.

Now that we're past opening weekend, Dear Lord, please send rain.

Under "Lessons Learned"... don't wait on your group to form. Save your spot no matter what they do.
