Much has been written and said about finding the load that a given rifle shoots best. Still, sometimes you happen across one that likes practically everything you feed it with little or no discernable difference in accuracy.

I have three such rifles in my collection, a Remington Model 700 ADL in .270 Winchester, a Weatherby Vanguard also in .270, and a Winchester Model 70 in 6.5 CM. On the flip side, my Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in 25-06 and Savage Model 110 in 6.5 CM are about as picky as a six-year-old kid. Both are very accurate but only when you feed them what they prefer.

I have a Rem 700 5r gun in 300 wm that shoots everything I load, from 168's to 212's in 3/4" or less.

One that comes to mind was a Savage Model 340 bolt action .30-30. Ballistic tips, traditional FP and RN ammo, cast -- it ate them all without a burp.

Basic Ruger 10/22 that I bought in 1985. It will run anything I put in it.

My Ruger .270 is like that. Will shoot anything I have fed it and shoot it well. For some odd reason at 100 yards it shoots 130 grain and 140 grain bullets in the same place.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I've found that folks who think a rifle shoots anything well often have low barometers for "good" accuracy.

Buddy at work was this way. Had a Ruger 77/22 he said would shoot lights out with anything. Started running CCI SV at 50 yards and it was shooting about an inch. He said, "See!" I just nodded my head and laughed a bit on the inside.

My Tikka shoots its best load at .4", give or take. .3" on a good day, .5" on a bad day...all if I do my part. It will shoot factory 140 ELD-M at .6-.7" and factory ELD-X at 1.5". I know folks who would shoot all of these groups and say it shoots everything well. For me, it's not even close. That said, my Tikka shot several really tight groups with different ammo when it was brand new. But hasn't done that since I got past about 200 rounds, so I think it was just a factor of having fresh lands/grooves. She's an old bird now and knows what she likes and what she doesn't.

My 270 win is a rem 700 sendero. It isn’t very picky about what it shoots. At one point I had 5-7 loads that I could rotate between one after the other same point of aim at 100 yards and wind up with a 1 moa ish raged hole after several shots. I still hunt with two of the loads a reduced 110 grain pro hunter and a full power 150 nosler partition.

Yeah, this "shoots everything well" ranks right up there with "it's a .5 shooter all day long, every day" thread.

Good, Great and Excellent is all subjective to personal opinion. Many would consider a 13 second 1/4 mile car "fast" while others wouldn't

I think the vast majority of hunters would consider a rifle that shoots under 1/2" to be exceptional.

Also, stretch a given group of 10 rifles out to 500 yards, and you will quickly see your "shoots anything well" number of rifles shrink fast.

Only 200 yards can, and often does show that.

I have a couple of old 22 match rifles that will put cheap ammo through the same hole so easily that it gets boring. I have ammo that shoots well in every gun but I've never had a Centerfire rifle that shoots everything really well. Gold medal match is my go-to to set a baseline for a new gun. Once I have a baseline I start working at my own loads. I make the joke but it's not really a joke that if a rifle won't shoot gold medal match well then the rifle is broken.

Trolling? Heck no, I meant every word of it.

"Not picky" is more of a relative term where it's not so much that a rifle will shoot half-inch groups all day every day, but that it shoots small enough groups that are acceptable to the owner with everything they've shot through it. After all, any firearm need only satisfy the needs of its owner and do it well in order to be considered a "Shooter".
