Well, went ahead and got things rolling on an order for a 2024 AT4 1500 with the baby Duramax.
Priced an exact replacement for my current Super Duty Tremor and it was damn near $90k. I'll pass on a SD at those prices.
Only pause i have is the 8800 # towing capacity, I could go with the SLE and get a 12,000# capacity, same price as the AT4 but would have to put money in it to get the off road features I need.
I think it will suffice for pulling what I need to pull most days, when its empty will be a lot more pleasant to drive.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

They said 5-9 months. I don’t need or even want it this year, but will need to get into something new next year and ordering one seems to be the preferred way to buy vs. going to dealerships hoping they have something suitable on the lot.

Not many issues with them in the field but when they go out of warranty, you'd better hold on for dear life. Why is that? I've got a '22 GMC Sierra Crew 4x4 and love it over the first 22k miles. No problems, runs and drives great, tows my 30ft TT easily, and has averaged 23.4 over it's life. Set the cruise on 70 and 30mpg is rather easy. Because of the complexity and the packaging. Nearly the entire front clip has to come off to access the AC compressor or accessories. The wiper system and cowling has to come off to service the intake manifold (some are loose/cracked but rare) and much of the emissions system, the oil pump belt maintenance requires removal of the transmission, and the injection pump is buried under just about everything. The AT4 is "lifted" hence the lower towing capacity. The 6.2L direct injection gas engine has been capable of 10K+ since 2014...and maintenance consists of changing the oil. Make sure and change your diesel fuel filter (gas doesn't have one) every other oil change and make sure you buy fresh DEF (gas doesn't have it) from the dealer. I have never priced the oil pump belt job. But it is required at 100K (if memory serves) and is not covered under warranty. I'll try and get that price today.

You have to remember it's a 6 cylinder, oil changes aren't bad in my area, $60 at the dealership. My I10 mileage was 27 mpg after putting on the next bigger tire size, my range at that mpg is over 600 miles with the 24 gal tank, I'll need to take a leak before I run out of fuel. You can do the math on the savings. Maybe take a look at the Chevy's and save a little coin, my 2023 3.0 is an LT Trailboss with not much missing, I have the safety package with all the cameras and gizmos. 2024 should be the same price as the 23's from what I saw when I bought mine. Sticker on mine was 68K. I think the ZR2 will be offered with the 3.0 in 2024.

I’ve heard nothing but good about them. And I want to say they raised the mileage to 200 on the oil pump belt. Only complaint I’ve seen is the oil is hard to get.

Fuel mileage was only one of my factors, and maybe I'm still using that to justify my purchase , but mine has to pull occasionally and I wasn't going 3/4 ton or some small turbo gas engine. The diesel option is $795 more than the 5.3 option and less than the 6.2 option, GM wants you to buy that micro turbo, every time you go up an engine there's another surcharge. I also traded in a Tundra that was getting 11.2 mpg. So for me the choice was right. I see what your saying but my gap so to speak was larger than your example.

I doubt I would get 16 mpg in my rig, my wifes 2wd barely gets that in the 6.2, but say I can get 16 mpg. By that math model I would break even within the first year. Everything after that is a savings. I'm not saving money now by driving a diesel in my current set up but would be saving money on fuel by 3rd quarter of the first year on the 3.0 diesel halfton

Heard the same thing on the 200k maintenance. Also, I get my oil and filters at Rockauto.com. I either change it myself or take the oil and filter to the local mom and pop and pay them $30 and have them do it.

I personally don't give a crap about all the math calculations. I freaking love mine, and it runs circles around any 1/2T gasoline version I've ever owned, and that includes every brand made. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

I am loving mine as well although i am still breaking mine in. I have 3k on it and i am still showing over half full on my DEF gauge.
Is the oil and filter that hard to come by still or was that a 21' issue? I am about to change mine early for the first change but will probably use the dealer for the 1st free oil change promo they have going on.

I am loving mine as well although i am still breaking mine in. I have 3k on it and i am still showing over half full on my DEF gauge.
Is the oil and filter that hard to come by still or was that a 21' issue? I am about to change mine early for the first change but will probably use the dealer for the 1st free oil change promo they have going on. Order from Rockauto.com. 7 qts of AC Delco 0-20w Dexos D and your filter costs about $65 shipped to your door.
