Anyone want to school me on real life applications of decent ammo for teal and short range duck hunting with a 28 guage, and the availability of such ammo. I can read all i want on google but one never knows who is just trying to sell something. I already have a 12 and 20, 20 is too old for steel. Looking for an excuse for another gun and caliber, smile. Plan on a SBE 3 provided I can find waterfowl ammo

Go to you tube and check out High praire sportsman, he hunts ducks with a 28 and bullet 225 ho, he reloads 28 with a bunch of differant loads but he also does pattern tests and comparisons.

If you ever make it by Scheels they seem to carry a good bit of 28 gauge loads.

You're not going to find anything cheaper than Boss. It's top of the line also. I have probably shot every type of bismuth through my 28 gauge and much prefer Boss over any others.

Unless you reload this is true.

They're costing me $6.26 for .75 oz. 7.5 hard shot or $4.85 for .75 oz. reclaimed shot right now.

If you shoot very many it's best to hand load them.

Do you reload 28 gauge bismuth? If so can you send me a recipe/bismuth source? I’ve searched my [censored] off and for what bismuth shot plus other components cost, I can’t justify reloading vs just buying Boss.

You can get recipes from Reloading manuals. There are several loads on the Hodgdon powder site for 28. Not saying it is always cheaper ,but you can normally load a better shell reloading.
