I thought the movie was good. I realize it’s a movie and probably only fairly accurate.

Oher is claiming the family basically tricked into signing a conservatorship at 18 for his future earnings. The conservatorship was set up for him to go to ole miss at age 18. The movie wasn’t made to years after the conservatorship.

They no longer have contact with each other for over 10 years. Seems like if he wanted to end the conservatorship, it would be simple.

I agree, it portrayed Oher as a big, dumb idiot. He was already a good player.

Bottom line. I think Oher is being short sided. No one helped him except these people. Motives were probably football motivated. But, he wasn’t left in a crackhouse or gutter.

Why did it take so long for this story to come out? Movie came out like 14 years ago.

In the article I read, he said he did not find out until February 2023 that what he signed was actually the conservatorship papers and not adoption papers as he had been told. I could see him being upset if in fact he truly believed he had been adopted to then learn many years later it was all a lie. I don't know that it's necessarily about the money, but about the lie. That would hurt like nothing else, at least to me.

You can’t adopt someone who is 18. Conservatorship allowed him to sign with a college. Otherwise ncaa would call them boosters.
