Another member mentioned posting an introduction, so here we are!

Been hunting for about a decade now, mostly white tail, but looking to expand that. I live in Buda in a nice rural neighborhood with all kinds of wildlife running around that my girls love to watch.

Used to have access to a property near Austin, but tale as old as time, it was sold to a developer, so now I mainly hunt at my in-laws places up in Abilene.

Whenever they make you do these intros at work functions, there's always the "one unique fact" about yourself, so I'd have to say I'm probably the only hunter in Texas who's not killed a hog. Not for lack of trying, but on every hog hunt I've been on I typically never even see a hog. Drew a tag down near the coast about five years back, 85% success rate the year before I showed up, and didn't see a hog for the three days I was there. Success rate as a whole plunged to 20% thanks to my bad hog juju.

Looking forward to making some connections and sharing in the fun; hunting is always on my mind!

Thanks for the intro. Somes will ask you on here... chili with beans or without, sweet or unsweet tea, etc. If you are a liberal I would keep that to myself.

The tough questions... I tend to lean towards chili with beans (my wife makes a killer chili with breakfast sausage), and unsweet tea since I'm a cautious man. Some sweet teas can be overloaded with sugar, so I order unsweet and handle the rest myself.

Hope so! Recently took one of my BIL's out on his very first hunt of any kind, and naturally he got a hog.

As far as pigs go, I'll trade your problem of not seeing pigs with my problem of seeing too many!

Yeah, it can get bad. My girls love to cruise through Cabelas. I don't get much shopping done when I bring them, but at least they aren't out in the heat.

Yep, buda has certainly grown over the years! Way before the weinner fest took place in downtown!
Was there in 87, during the Leigh High cement plant shutdown they had, We were there 7 months, 12 hours shifts,
Not one weekend off!
til Brown & Root was done!....
Love them shut downs! No time spend your money, eat sleep, go to work. Rinse and repeat.

Welcome. You'll get a hog eventually. When the time is right. I was in that boat. Go on a hog hunt with friends and see 12 shoats and no big hogs. Still hunt with my dad and he sees hogs I don't. Just takes time. Although, this last year I saw precious few of them.
