My dad has a place with 2 graves on it, the bodies were covered up with rocks. They are real old, believed to be early 1900’s, but nobody knows for certain. One of the old timers thought that it may have been people traveling through.
I often wonder if someone really hid some money/gold there, but I’m not moving the rocks, I don’t want that karma on me.

I’m not overly superstitious but messing with graves is bad juju.

My aunt and her husband lived on an old poor farm outside of Palestine. We used to find old tin grave markers as kids. Their old stone barn/tack had bullet holes in the steel doors.

I won't disturb a grave out of respect.

I hunted a ranch as a kid back in 1960 and remember finding a fenced off spot under a tree that had some old markers and one I remember reading the person was buried in 1882.
I think back now and that person at that time was only buried 78 years earlier.

When I was 10 years old or so, me and my brother decided to make a wade up a small creek on our dad's place in Grimes county. It was more of a deep gully. It had high banks (prob 8 feet high) on either side. We waded in knee-deep water for an hour or so until we came to a place where we could make it up the bank. When we got to the top, the grass was nearly chest high. We walked around through the high grass for a few minutes until we started tripping over small gravestones from mid-late 1800s. You couldn't read most of them. There was no fence, no road, nothing around from what we could see. We could not see the stones until we stepped on them. We were already pretty creeped out and decided to head back to the gully. As we headed back, we jumped a couple of deer in the high grass. We nearly came out of our jeans. No one would ever know that cemetery was laying under that tall grass next to the creek. I expect it is still sitting there undiscovered, 50 years later.

Found one surveying ca. 1973. It's on Northwest Highway east of Marsh Lane. Has a historical marker on it now. Developer wasn't happy to see that on the boundary/topo. Fired the engineering firm over it.
