Took off after I finished work today about 4 MST. Local told me how to get there, bit of a drive, little 4x4. Elevation was about 10,600 feet. Had the lake to myself. Didn’t see anyone else. Went around the lake a bit and caught fish on almost every cast. Temp was probably down to 45 or so when I left. It was drizzling some, I was wet by then, and my hands started to have difficulty, plus the water started to feel warmer to the touch. Time to go. Didn’t keep count. Brought 2 nice rainbows home. Was too cold and rainy to take any other pics. Still feel cold now writing this. Fish were mainly rainbows, few browns and a brook.

Have caught probably 80+ crappie in the fall where my fingers were bleeding but that was the most amazing fishing experience ever.

Please share your story.

I usually fish every weekend. My hands too cramp up after a long day i usually have some pickle juice shots with me to help with it.
Last November a buddy and my cousin and I caught over a 100 hundred trout a day for 2 days it was crazy.

Back when Monticello power plant lake was open and still generating, I could go there first few weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas and the big bass would be getting ready to spawn way back in the shallow in the lily pads where few boats would go.

I would get a Spinnerbait and 40lb Power Pro Braid and go looking for big fish, I could catch at least 50 bass over 5lbs per day if I had over cast and rain or drizzle. When they would hit the spinnerbait in the shallows it would look like a washing machine swirl

I regret not getting any fish pics. But after the initial pics my phone went in a ziplock. Later on my hands were a little slow more from the cold.

I've had three such fishing adventures.

1) Lake Fork- friend and I caught 25 bass on Carolina rigs and the average weight was 3.5 lbs

2) Lake Tyler-friend and I were fishing for white bass with jigging spoons. No idea how many whites we caught but I caught a four or five pound catfish and a 5-6 lb bass. Fish biting on almost every time we dropped a spoon.

3) Lake Calcasieu- friend and I were catching redfish from this one spot along a bank. We stayed in that spot and caught at least half a dozen. We were catching doubles on bull reds and neither of us could net the other's fish because we had our own. The best part was a guide and his clients were watching. They worked down to and around us and we never saw them catch anything. My friend has been back several times and never caught anything in that spot.

I hit Lake Texoma on a fall day earlier morning, again it was overcast and misting rain.

I put on a Yellow Magic topwater magnun size and caught 17 smallmouth bass in about 3 hours, and average size was about 2 lbs, I did stick a a few pushing 4lbs.

Never have been able to re create that.

Looks outstanding there.

We came across this little mountain lake a few weeks ago in Co. We didnt fish, but it was nice to enjoy the weather and scenery of the area.

I have fished Lake Texoma since the late 70's, never managed to catch a 20 +lb striper. I booked a trip in Connecticut , the
Captain told me " there is very good chance " of breaking 20. this one is right at 32. On one half day trip , I caught 5 over 20.

How did you catch them?

Top Water? Trolling?

Fresh or salt water?

Salt water, Live bait , I chunked a top water some , no hits. The bait were what they call bunker up there. I am not sure if they are the same
fish we call pogeys down here. The one in the picture came on a free lined bunker, on the surface,
After dark we switched to live eels. The Captain I used does not troll, I have his contact info if someone is interested, Fishes out of Groton Ct.
