The whole thing sounds like a mess. President gets fired and this whacko gets a million dollars.

Whatever happened to telling people to go away. Sue us if you like. Civil juries down there would probably side with A&M.

I find it a little scary the power that the A&M System holds in the state. The university in College Station is a very tiny piece of the A&M System.

Unrelated to the OP, but they also bought the dental school in Dallas. Used to be Baylor College of Dentistry, but now Tx A&M C.O.D.

Thats just a drop in the bucket for them. You wouldn`t believe how much money A&M gets from people after they die and still living. I`ve seen some huge donations to Tarleton where I live. That`s why universities don`t act very fiscally with the $$$ they spend. I don`t understand this love lots of people have for the university they attended. I do know that if the University knows you are leaving them $$$$ or give them $$$$ while you are still living, they will kiss your a$$$ like nobody's business. I think I just figured it out.

It was reported a key issue was the initial offer included immediate tenure. I see the university saving itself a lot of trouble with the decision to pay her to go away. She would have done nothing but complain and the university could have done nothing about it.

Nothing compared to what they receive from their Mineral Interest passing through the Permanent Funds.

They and UT are some of the richest educational institutions in the world, part of a rarefied club that includes Harvard, Yale and Stanford.

In recent years, the annual cash payout from this oil fund has exploded: In 2011, the UT System — which oversees UT-Austin and 13 other campuses — received $352 million from the fund. This year, it will receive $603 million, and about half will flow directly to its flagship campus in Austin (the Texas A&M System will receive about $300 million).

I've heard of Aggie alumni moving to College Station in retirement to be around all the hoopla. That ain't normal behavior.

Colleges are the single largest source of communism in America. I wish they would all burn down.

No tenure should ever be allowed for a professor. That is one of the big failings of colleges. Once a professor get tenure they can say and do pretty much anything they want and not worry about getting fired. This is how they indoctrinate kids, they can teach things they know to be completely false with impunity and the kids don't know the difference. Tenured professors have done a lot to destroy education.
