Buy the 4x8' sheets of foam at HD or Lowes, cut them oversize and pop into door panels. I've done this on shop and garage doors works like a charm. Sheets are about $20.00 each. this, takes some time but it works

Simple searcher you’re right, if you make them tight they definitely don’t need adhesive. I was wrong on the price. They’re $25 each for a total of $100. For the best fit you will find yourself cutting and trimming. Each square is slightly different in size. Note that one channel is smaller than the other, on mine it’s the bottom that’s smaller. Slip it in the top, pop it in the bottom.

Gonna need to upgrade springs or Atleast adjust them anytime you add weight to the door

I bought one of the insulation kits and installed it. Didn't have it very long before the door got beat up by hail and insurance replaced it. The replacement was a factory insulated door. I don't know how much of a difference it makes.

I just park my cars and bikes in my garage, I don't really notice it being super crazy hot
What is the main point of trying to cool down your garages?

What is the main point of trying to cool down your garages? Garage cool = adding to house cooling.

What is the main point of trying to cool down your garages? That’s my shop not my garage. I spend a lot of time in there. Hence the mini split. My garage does have an insulated door and my wife appreciates it’s in the winter when she goes to leave. It’s never below 50° no matter how cold it is outside.

Thanks for all the advice. I haven't done anything scientific, but it is noticably cooler in there now.

A little feedback, I said I wouldn’t know until I could track my usage. I was wrong. It is now cold all over my shop. Apparently before I was controlling the thermostat to be comfortable where I was working, now the whole shop is cold.
Sherpa the pink looks good. Did you wind up with slightly smaller panels than you started with? I did. I was fighting for my life for that extra 1/8” of insulation.

I don't know how much of a difference it makes. I had mine replaced under hail claim. I mentioned to my roofer that I was going to insulate the new one. He said don't worry we will get an insulated one for you. If I have another claim I will definitely call him.

What did you use to stick it to the garage door? Cut the foam slightly large, bow it in the middle, and force it in. No need to glue. If you have to glue it, the spray foam in a can works great as an adhesive.

The wrestling match to get full sized panels in there just wasn't worth it. I can't imagine that a slightly tighter trim ends up making that much difference.
