Any saw mills around DFW ? I’d like 1.5” to 2” thick and maybe 6’ x 18” , not particular on the type of wood

Not DFW but there is a sawmill store in Valley Mills west of Waco. I was passing through and found a large piece of wood for a project once. Great people to do business with.

As an option, and not a cheap option, I think Dakota Hardwoods has a place in DFW. Over the years I’ve bought Walnut, Cherry, and White Oak from the Waco location. If you want dry useable wood, they’d be a good choice. Otherwise you’ll need the slab to dry, at a year per inch of thickness.

Also in Houston is Houston Hardwoods. That’s where I got all my wood supply when we lived there. They may have what you want, but if you find what you want somewhere else, I’m pretty sure they can surface it in their very large machines. I used to buy wood in the rough from them and S4S with my gear, but I couldn’t do wood 18” wide. They can.

Woodcraft stores have various slabs. I go to the one in Hurst.
