Let the dogs out this morning before Bible study. Around 5am. They immediately took off into the brush near the house, howling like crazy. I was running late, so I didn't have time to chase them through the woods. This scenario happens quite often though.

Got back a little bit ago, and the bloodhound had made it back to the house (no surprise there), but my overly ambitious dachshund was nowhere to be found. So I borrowed my brother's bird dog and set off in the direction that I heard the ruckus early this morning. Didn't take long to find him. Seems like the coyote had taken off with one of the chickens, because there were feathers too.

Tough to find your dog like that. Nothing much to bury. RIP Buzz.

An owl got my Jack Russell like that several years ago. A loss that is hard to swallow.

We love them and they love us back, no charge.

Thanks y’all. I’d probably keep more dogs around, but I just hate losing em.

Condolences I know too well the feeling and the loss

Every coyotes in the area would have to grow eyes in the back of their heads for at least the next 10 years. I would rain down hellfire on them if they grabbed my little pooch.

Sorry you lost your buddy. Coyotes got my cat around this time in 09' and I've been on a killing streak of them since then. Hopefully you can take some of them out.

Trolling? Heck no, I meant every word of it.

Coyotes get the blame most of the time but people need to understand how quickly an owl or hawk and dive in and kill a small dog. An owl's talons can kill in the blink of an eye. Bobcats get their share too and they are everywhere.

If you have a small dog or cat, probably best to be with them outdoors.

It was a coyote. Saw him by the coop yesterday; didn't have a gun nearby. Saw several piles of scat by my dog. But yes, there are other things that kill small animals.

Me too. If one ever got either of our Dachshunds (very special dogs anyway) I'd go full on John Wick on the Coyote population. [Linked Image]
