Bosses try and make transitions run as smooth as possible.
Nobody like’s surprises when it comes to employees.

I don’t really see that as nosy, but I can see it being annoying. Information was posted publicly and they found out about it.

Im with you, top. Ive been a boss for 50 years so I can relate. He just asked a question that will directly effect what he is responsible for.

She could have said less and this would not have been an issue for you.

Seems like an honest question, unless he was being a duck about it.

Years ago when I was in Narcotics, a new sgt was just trying to fit in. A guy asked for the next day off. He asked why.
Guy said he was gonna sit home all day with some jergens and cheetos. Sgt probably dont ask what people do in their off time anymore.

Sounds like you should be more concerned with that other employee who told your boss without your blessing.

I’m not entirely sure what you’re trying to say, since you didn’t say it in English, but I get the impression that you’re wrong.

How much prior notice are you required to give to retire?

Tell the wife less info is more talking about future plans when posting publicly.

I would not post anything that reflects ones status (moving, vacation, illness, etc.). Consider OPSEC and "Less is more". How about just "for slae"? Can't blame the other SGT since it was posted for everyone to see on the interweb.

agree ... a good manager is always looking out for both their people and meeting business needs, including staffing for potential attrition

In my mind this is how it played out:

Sgt B's wife saw the post by Mrs. OP. Mrs. B asked Sgt. B if he knew the OP was moving. Sgt B said no. The next day, Sgt B went to Sgt A and declared OP was moving. Sgt A, worried he was losing a good guy, knew he would need to be prepared to fill OP's vacancy if OP was in fact vacating his position. So, Sgt A approached OP and asked the direct question.

I don't fault Sgt A. I fault Sgt B's wife; she started it. grin
