I have been using the 50/1 mix you get at the box stores in my chainsaws for a couple years. My neighbor, who has a brother that owns a vehicle repair shop told him to not use that stuff....stick to straight non ethanol fuel and add the oil.

What's yalls opinion?

The mix at box stores (TruFuel ,STP, SEF etc) is Non ethanol.
But it may end up cheaper to buy the E free by the gallon from a pump, and mix it yourself with 2 stroke oil

no ethanol fuel & add oil. Been running weed eater , chain saw and outboard motor for 20 + years.

If you only use a quart a year, keep doing what you're doing,
but non-ethanol fuel + synth oil + stabil marine is MUCH cheaper and as good or better than the canned stuff, if you go thru gallons per year.

Thats my program to a T. I use 20 plus gallons of two stroke fuel over the year between the weedeaters, blower and saws. The Stabil 360 Marine, the blue stuff is great. It goes in all my lawn equipment and boats.

I go through way too much 2 cycle fuel per year to buy the canned stuff at the store.

Ethanol free gas, and Stihl full synthetic 2 cycle oil added.

I only buy ethanol free gas, and fill four 5 gallon jugs at a time. The volume is for the ZTR more than anything.

I mix up one gallon of two stroke fuel when I run empty.

I use about a gallon per year or a little more. I buy ethanol free and mix myself. It is about 1/3 the cost of the canned stuff. I will add a little Sea Foam to it. I have a Ryobi tiller that a neighbor gave me. It was struggling to run when you hit the throttle. Sea Foam fixed that.

I mix my own, and use the Stihl oil and sometimes the Echo oil. I do not use ethanol free gas in anything. That said, when winter arrives and I put up most of the 2 cycle gear, I have always put the premix gas in them and run em a bit. There was only one 2 cycle tool that still had the premix in it last week. That was the Farm Boss Stihl, my old chain saw. It’s a beast, but a heavy beast, and I had not used it in many months. Took it with us to the back of the place to saw up some Oak, and it sputtered and lost power several times. I dumped out the fuel and added fresh fuel and it ran like a champ. I guess even the premix can get old.

I run ethanol free, then stabil with motul 800 offroad blend 2t synthetic oil....became a fan during by dirtbike years. You can run a leaner ratio, with better lubrication so as not to have to worry about fouling plugs or oiling up your mufflers. Never had an issue.

hard to get ethanol free around here. I have a generator with some regular fuel (no additive) in it and now it won't run with the choke off. gonna try mechanic in a bottle and see if that helps.

A lot of the Buckee's have a couple pumps with ethanol free gas, just not the one in New Braunfels

Seafoam is your friend here. For storage and getting it running a little better.

Use to mix my own when I used my chainsaw a lot. Now I buy the premix at the big box stores.

Where or what gas stations sell non ethanol gas?

Only one anywhere near here (Enderby Gas) until Walmart started selling it.

I bought

A WHOLE LOT

of TruFuel pre-mix when I saw the writing on the wall for CV19. I might not ever use it all. Not sure how much it costs now but it's less than mixing my own.

Did the same with ammo and loading supplies and coffee and...

Pass the gravy.

The only place in the hill country that I have seen ethanol free is the Gifco in Lampasas. I see 85 ethanol at a lot of stations down there.

Oldoak, Enderby in Gainesville has it and they have a convenience store just north of Whitesboro that's got it. It was $.30 higher than regular Saturday when I bought it.
