Hotel in McKinney last night got cat stolen in 2017 Tundra. Super late to real important architect meeting.
Super stressed being late but it’s all good in grand scheme.

Go to a muffler shop and get it replaced with the reset and many offer a protective guard also

Much faster that the dealer and same price

Sucks. Seems like there should be some way to shut down the black market for cat's.

Tundras can be really fickle using aftermarket cats, throw codes, etc.

Why don't the automakers design exhaust systems to make converters harder to steal?

No incentive to do so.

About 5 years ago we had seven stolen on a Sunday. Had a salesman discover it on Monday when he went to get one of them for a test drive for a customer. It sure sounded good without it but was costly to repair. Because it was a new vehicle in order to keep the warranty valid everything from the motor to the tailpipe had to be replaced. For some reason Toyota vehicles are a prime target for this.

Freerange TH is correct on throwing codes with aftermarket so make sure to get original parts.

Sorry that happened to ya, thieves suck donkey testicles…. I had a new dozer stripped a mile off the road a few weeks back and the estimate for repairs is over $13,000 bucks not including the lost down time. If I ever come across a dumb [censored] messing with my stuff I’ll be in jail a while because they’ll be limping the remainder of their life.

Thanks guys. Im temporarily out of retirement from the restaurant business to consult with my daughter/SIL to add another 40% of space along with a complete revamp to their bakery and tweak concept. Really a busy and stressful time and then this happens with the truck. So busy today with the architects etc that I havent done anything on the truck but from what im hearing it could be a major issue.

There are many countries with virtually no theft. The problem only exists because we tolerate it.

Yep, easy to access and more precious metals. They really like Prius also but have to jack them up. Some people have waited 9 months for parts. Fortunately Toyota has stepped up and provided rentals at least in some cases. Problem is there are things you can't do with a rental like towing. My plan if it happens I will straight pipe until parts are available.
