Lots of mail issues at our new home. Days with no mail. Amazon packages that are delivered by USPS always take an extra day or two.

I filed a appeal with the county appraisal board back in April. I was supposed to get a notice of the hearing date by certified mail. I was checked the CAD website every couple of days and find there is a hearing scheduled. I never did get a letter.

At the hearing I told them I never received a letter with the hearing date. The clerk said the letter was undeliverable and they had evidence it was mailed. WWF? The hearing went about as well as you can expect these days and they tell me I should get a offer for settlement in a couple of weeks. Sign that from and return it, then I will get an updated appraisal.

It just happens that USPS Informed Delivery just became available to our rural address, so we signed up within a day or two of it being available at our zip code.

Well...Friday my email has this image of a certified letter from the appraisal board:

[Linked Image]

No Certified Letter arrives Friday. No Certified Letter arrived on Saturday.

The address on the image is clear and correct.

Wife and I have been home with Covid since Wednesday, so we did not miss a delivery attempt.

Being pissed, I went through the front door camera footage and grabbed exports of the letter carrier driving by on both Friday and Saturday without getting out of the vehicle.

I'm going to wait a couple of day to see what shakes out. I'm betting it either gets returned to the appraise district or we get a card in the mailbox saying they tried to deliver and we were not home.

Wonder if the letter carrier knows that people on her route can now find out what is supposed to be delivered each day?

We all need to practice Whoa more.

This is interesting to me because a knifemaker dropped off a knife for me at the Decatur Post Office and it hasn't moved since last Monday. What's going on out there?

So.....frustrating.

Our local rural deliverer just does whatever the hell she wants.

Ordered a small part (about as big as a quarter) but something I need. Paid extra to have it delivered as fast as possible. Should have been here Saturday. Track the package and get a notice that an 'ATTEMPT' was made to deliver the package....but that the Driveway or Doorway was not 'ACCESSIBLE'.

BS.....!

The entry to my drive is 22' wide, the driveway is an unobstructed 250' to the house. But more than that I have a JUMBO mailbox right across the road from the house where I get all my mail unless it won't fit in the box (its a LARGE box).

The package would never have needed to be delivered to my house to begin with and I was home all day expecting it. There was NOTHING preventing the delivery, she just didn't want to do it. This happened enough times before that I complained to the Post Master at the main office in town and that went nowhere. They could not have cared less.

Timely post. I work for a home builder selling homes in a new subdivision. Just started closing houses in phase two and am having issues with the post office delivering mail. I spent this afternoon looking through 77 unassigned mailboxes (we have gang boxes) for some missing mail. Found all of it in a single (wrong) box. Three different addresses in the same box. One address was not even in our neighborhood. Have had several email exchanges with the postmaster in the last couple of weeks trying to figure out what was going on. He was rude, snide, and very unhelpful.

USPS is the most useless business the government has ever bailed out, and with GM on the books, that’s saying something.

If you have Informed Delivery for your address, you should sign up for it. You will get a picture of every 1st class item and a message about every package on the day it is supposed to be delivered.

It give you ammo when you go over the local postmaster's head.

You're not alone. Same thing happens out here. Must be something about rural mail carriers not wanting to do their job. There's nothing that gets my blood pressure up more...

FedEx is worse. I've been hunting down a package from them since Thursday.

Our Post Office seems to be overwhelmed with packages and understaffed. In true style USPS management doesn't keep up with the times.

FWIW.....The USPS Informed Delivery app allows you to select and report to the postmaster the letters/packages you did not receive.

And that did me no good at all. A check that I was expecting finally showed up three weeks after I reported several pieces of mail that didn't make it.

They’re not, actually. I understand your frustration with FedEx. They all drop the ball and often, but I assure you that USPS is the worst of the lot. Bottom of the barrel. I work all over and have packages delivered to me all over. I will gladly pay extra to keep my packages out of the hands of the useless twats that work for USPS. They are the worst. There is no comparison.

The opposite is true here. My mail lady knows my name and is 100% reliable. FedEx here uses contact delivery people and they are a train wreck. I ship and receive guns through USPS often with zero issues. FedEx won’t even do it.

My mail lady skips delivery around once a week. I’ve got two mail boxes and when she makes an early morning run I know it’s nothing more than presorted flyers in both boxes. I guess not sorting the actual incoming deliveries saves her half a day so she can take off early. I’ll then get twice the mail the following day. Annoying and I’ve reported her, but no one up there gives a flip.

Our mail gets messed up at least once a week. We get a neighbor's mail and have to take it to them. A neighbor shows up at our house with mail put in their box. Letters just never show up.

How any of you would still have a job if you F'ed Up 17% of the time?

How many businesses would you patronize again if their product did not work 1 our of 6 times?

How many restaurants would you keep going to if you got sick once every 6 trips?

I’ve read enough of these threads to conclude that delivery quality is very regional. Some have great success with one and others have horrible service from the same carrier. If I absolutely need something delivered to me, USPS is my choice. FedEx delivered a gun I bought a few months ago to a narcotics anonymous building. Besides pitching it over a prison fence, I can’t think of a worse place to deliver a gun.

I bashed my own carriers for not delivering mail when they should have, but in their defense, they don't always have the resources that the bigger post offices do. An example of that would be what they have to drive to make deliveries. They make deliveries in modified vehicles. For the most part they are a POS. There was one carrier for awhile that was driving a modified Hurst! I should have reported that to the post master.

I don't know. It was definitely a Hurst. It was an older one for sure. Not that big, but the design was unmistakable.
