I've done it every way on your list except pickled. How the heck do you pickle deer? And why would you?
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Pickle the tongue, delicious! I saved the tongues of 3 deer last year and made taco meat in the crock pot. Guarantee I will save all tongues from all deer this year!

what kind of research project do you have? None, just curious It's the dog days of summer. Nobody is hunting, and it's too damn hot to fish. So, were just thinking up any topic to talk about hunting. I guess we're all bored.

I’d add salami and dried sausage as two of my favorites.

What's the recipe/seasonings/cooking time/etc. Onion, garlic, cumin, salt, pepper bay leaves, mexican oregano, and deer tounge in the crock pot. (small crock pot as the deer tongues are not very big) Cook for 8 hours, remove tongues and peel skin off. Dice the meat and put back in crock pot for another 2 hours. Serve street taco style.

I didn`t grow up eating deer meat and my wife didn`t so we never acquired a taste for it. So...... I make 100% of my deer into jerky. I used to give away the shoulders, but I grind them now and use my jerky gun to make them into jerky too.

I wonder if the OP has ever shot a deer? Different cuts get cooked different ways. Kind of a dumb poll

We use the back strap and tenderloins for grilling steaks. We grind up everything else into ground venison (Neck meat, front shoulder, rear hams). We use the ground venison for all our chili, tacos, spaghetti, hamburger helper, etc. We go through a lot of the ground venison.
I got my wife a fancy Kitchen Aid mixer for her baking and cooking. She loved it. But at the same time, I wanted it for the grinder attachment to grind up venison. It works perfect for that. Win, win!

Most of the deer gets made into jerky (which I make myself at home.) The rest of it gets cubed up and made into carne guisada in a crock pot.

I vote give it away and go get yourself a nice steak I’m with him, me too. Why I don't shoot whitetail unless I have someone who wants it and will pay for processing. OP is correct, this time of year the THF grows stale. Everyone gets bitchy Unless you go striper fishing and finish by 11:00 in a good breeze. Hopefully this Friday.

I guess we're all bored. I beg to differ. Catfish are coming off the nest and can be had in volume if you’re up for sweating. I do my catfishing at night, no sun, no burn, no shirt, no waiting at the boat ramp, no boat traffic…..etc. Or, hunt pigs with thermal. Plenty of fun summer activity.
