The friend that sent me the pics said there are two high fence exotic places within 5 miles of him. He told me that hours later, when I told him to look up "Sangai doe"

Barasinga deer. Semi-common exotic. Have to have a CITES to kill one

A lot of people falsely presume that “if it isn’t a native animal with a season” they can just blast away at the animal with no regulation. Barasinga, Addax, Red Lechewe and a few others require a cites permit to harvest. A lot of Barasinga end up on a ranch and the landowner does not realize until after the fact that they require a permit to harvest. They don’t feel like going thru the steps to acquire the permit so they don’t hunt them, they get populated and eventually the surplus gets moved to other properties They are kinda a cool animal. Similar to a Pere’ David’s but not exactly similar. They are a water animal and love to sit in tanks and ponds.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

A guy at church got in hot water shooting one. Not the sharpest and nothing is ever his fault. But I digress.

Never know what you will see in either of those high fenced area. I live about 3 miles from them. Used to have a lot of elk, hadn’t noticed any of late. They were know for escaping……. Saw a big 5x5 about a mile south on my place 15-20 years ago taking the kids to school one morning. Couple years ago, had an antipope in the yard. Like I said, never know what you will see, and they do have escapes.

Female Barasingha deer....and txtrophy85 is correct, you need a CITES permit to legally harvest one (which cannot be obtained for free-range animals).
