Wife has me doing some interior painting. Painted a small hall, then she wanted me to do trim around doors. Got some pure white semi gloss.
Now she thinks it made doors look dingy.

What type of paint do I use for doors? Satin? Eggshell? Semigloss seems to shiny.

She also made me change outlet plates.

Add Floetrol to the white trim and door paint. Eliminates brush and roller marks.

This. Also add some Floetrol latex paint reducer to paint and use a high end brush.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

Wife said “I told you” we use the same paint.

Can I add floetrol to my Wagner painter. I’m gonna take doors off and paint then in garage or backyard.

All I got to say is watch out for "scope creep", wife's are really bad about that.

I’ve been a rep in the coatings industry for quite some time.

Is the woodwork worn? Higher sheens will bring out imperfections more.

I like a satin or SG finish for trim/woodwork. Try SW Emerald Urethane. As a previous poster said, you can use an extender to help prevent stipple or brush strokes. If you’re spraying (not much experience with Wagners) you can still add in floetrol.

It’s a cheap Wagner. Like 250 bucks. I have never used it. Figure I could try it.

Do not use latex on the doors. It must be oil base or acrylic, latex will scratch and show marks.

Don’t use pure white, it will glow in the dark. Seriously, there are better off white colors. We like SW Swiss Coffee most of the time

Be careful with that Wagner. Several light coats. It will run easily.

Pure white 7005 is a great neutral white and will not glow in the dark, have it in my house. Lighting plays the biggest factor though. Swiss coffee isn’t a SW color - sorry couldn’t help myself.

We’ve painted every door we’ve ever owned with latex and never had a problem, gloss black doors with gloss white trim every time.

A word of wisdom if your spraying them outside in the heat, they will warp like a mother truckin sombeach if the coats are really wet or they get hit with sunlight. The sun will make a mess of them,,, I sprayed 16 doors outside last month and ended up throwing 8 away while the rest finally straightened up last week.

Roll Tide, ahout 20 years ago, I discoved Floetrol painting cabinets with a hand held Wagner. I have used with brush work as well. As mentioned, it extends the paints drying time and maybe viscosity. It allows the the brush marks to "level out" before getting tacky.

With an airless sprayer, it keeps the paint wet in the air between the spray tip and surface, helping paint blend and level.

Of course surface prep is very important. I use a deglosser to clean the existing surface.

If I sand the surface, I blow then dry brush surfaces with an old brush and use a tack rag to remove dust an air hose leaves behind. Then use deglosser.

Floetrol is available for both latex and oil based paint.

I use semi gloss for trim and doors, it is more forgiving than high gloss.

I hate painting therefore I am not a natural. My dad was good. But I need all the I help I can get.

Good luck.

Wet paint is a bug magnet. I would just use a real good brush and paint indoors.
