I have a Tikka T1X and several lever action 22s (39A, 9422, and Browning). Till I got the Tikka, I thought the 9422 and 39A were very accurate.

What is the question? Which one to buy? which one is more accurate? which one is the better rifle overall?

Adding background to the poll:
1. Better overall 2. Bolt action only 3. You would recommend 4. Good from the box without "necessary upgrades". Scope doesn't count as an upgrade. 5. Reliable 6. Barrel over 18" Anything else?

CZ 457 with 20" bull barrel is what I have. Never been around the Tikka so I'm no help. My gun is very accurate, but one must adjust the trigger to around 2-3 lbs.

I've shot the Ruger and Tikka side by side. Surprisingly the Ruger stayed right with the Tikka accuracy wise with the 3 or 4 types of ammo we had available. Given time to find the best ammo for the rifle, those results might change. No experience with the CZ.

I think the CZ mtr or something like that comes with a better set up. I'm sure Senior will chime in.
Also some of the Begaras are supposed to shoot

We have a lot of shooters go out and buy the Ruger to start competing they change them out pretty quickly. I haven’t seen a ton of the Tikkas but those I have can shoot pretty good. The CZ’s are definitely good to go, but I wouldn’t go 24” barrel.

Lots to read about this question at rimfirecentral. The CZ MTR supposedly has an edge over their other .22s because of a tight match chamber.

It does shoot well as I bought one for my granddaughter to learn on as it had the adjustable stock to fit her. We didn’t feed it the high dollar ammo like I do in the B14R or the Vudoo but I bet it would do just fine against them with good ammo it liked.

None of the above is my answer. What is your choice then? After seeing what you’re looking to spend, my recommendation wouldn’t work.

I’d get the Tikka. The one I have is amazingly accurate. Of course I have not checked prices in a while.

I have a CZ 455 (predecessor to the 457) with 20" bull barrels in both .22lr and .17hmr It shoots either very well. I don't have experience with the Tikka, but everyone I know with a CZ has been pretty happy with it. I imagine either rifle (Tikka or CZ) would serve the OP well. With .22lr finding 'ammo' that the rifle likes best is critical to accuracy in many cases.

I have no idea which 22 is the best shooter. I wanted a bolt action and went for the Tikka for price and the 1 MOA 3 shot guarantee. It met that guarantee even with lower rank ammo. I don’t know what it would do with the high priced stuff. Some folks jazz the Tikkas up with new stocks and triggers, but it’s a shooter right out of the box. Put a scope with a fine crosshair reticle on it. I have a bunch of other 22s, but they are all in the gun safe now.
What I don’t know is if a fellow could use it in competition with any success. Not my area of expertise.
A few years ago, a lady friend of my wife wanted to shoot, so I put her behind the Tikka. She shot up all the bullseyes on the 50 yard target and wondered what else to shoot at. I suggested she shoot a hole in a white unused section of the target and then shoot at the bullet hole. She burned up a lot of ammo doing that.

Vudoo or Begara B14-r all the rest are tinker toys I bet all the Anschutz / RimX / Diana / Kidd owners would likely disagree

I’ve bought 2 CZs and been around several more. One of the best rimfire values and a good looking gun. They ‘Americanized’ their design with the 457 and some practical improvements so it’s gotten even better. Out of the three listed I wouldn’t hesitate to go Tikka either, but I’m partial to walnut and blued rifles.
