Kinda excited about duck season, last 2 seasons I been more focused and on snow skiing, even skipped last weekend last season, first time in 20 years to do that. Hope to get more hunting days in this years and save my ski days till after hunting season.

First world problems... grin

Kinda like when I skipped deer rifle opener a couple seasons ago to go to SD for phez hunting and the #1 hit list buck figured it out and went nocturnal. Sat am he was under my feeder at shooting light for an hour. violin

Disced up wetland last march resulted in massive smartweed response this year. Mainly grasses last year. Will be interesting to see what they like better

It seems that way for me as well. This is the last year my son will be at home before heading to college in fall of 24. Going to get as many days as I can with him this year. The days we spend together hunting are always my best days.

Smartweed is the ticket JMO. I suspect if you get it established, you could just do a slow draw down over summer and it will come back up in a big way, no discing. And the mallards and teal love smartweed. Have you every planted tooth cup? Pintails love toothcup.

Gee, I wonder what the opening day of dove season will be...

Gettin' a little excited for doves and ducks. Ducks gonna be a good year...specially if I'm not here.

No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

It has been tough last few seasons for most Texans, I been pretty lucky in West Texas (Haskell County), it has been good to me and Tara.

This will be Tara's 6th season dove hunting (7th season for duck). She is a great dove dog, holds that bird perfectly. We work hard on holding dove gently, I got dove in the freezer we will practice with before the opener, which I think it very important. Yard work with a dove before dove season helps tremendously.
