I just run some gun oil or CLP through the can to make sure the baffles are always "wet" but never thought about doing a full cleaning
however, on my rimfire cans, I do a full cleaning, because you can take them apart

can you use the chemicals that we use to clean shotgun choke tubes Carbon Killer( I have not used this yet didnt know it existed) Description Carbon Killer removes carbon, grease, lead and plastic fouling on contact. It is an aggressive cleaner designed to make cleaning easy for even extremely dirty and neglected parts. Cleaner Features User Friendly Slip 2000 cleaners are what we like to call "user friendly." Our lubricants are safe to handle with your bare hands, release no harmful fumes, and won't stink up your home or workshop. Despite being safe to handle, our cleaners are very effective in cleaning some of the toughest grime and buildup. https://slip2000.com/collections/cleaners/products/carbon-killer?variant=41187119333542I use this Choke tube cleaner - works fine on stainless or carbon choke tubes https://slip2000.com/collections/cleaners/products/choke-tube-cleaner?variant=41187119071398Description Used and recommended by more manufacturers than any other choke tube cleaner in the shotgun industry. The time consuming, labor intensive job of cleaning those automatic gas piston parts and choke tubes is now a thing of the past. A simple soaking of these metal parts in Slip 2000 Choke Tube Cleaner and 10-15 minutes later they are clean. What is the difference between Carbon Killer and Choke Tube Cleaner? Choke Tube Cleaner targets plastic fouling common for shotgun users while Carbon Killer is a little stronger and made to attack nasty carbon and lead fouling made by automatic weapons. Can I clean my suppressor with Carbon Killer? Yes! Carbon Killer works great for cleaning suppressors. Keep in mind that if left to soak for longer than 15 minutes the Carbon Killer can damage any finishes you may have.

Never had a stink from my cans, but i also dont shoot the cans that much. Had a good duck hunt season and I used a Salvo 12 on my Benelli SBE3, only did some cleaning with CLP and RemOil to make sure its lubricated. No issues and when cleaning the can it was pretty clean.

Small amount of CLP on a small, soft bristle bottle brush is all you need. KISS...Not rocket science.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.
