Despite Hetman's very impressive posts, I still wouldn't. I've never trained that way, and would rather rely on what I know works for me.

I don’t believe the point of posting the article was to change anyone’s mind. The article just points out that the specific time, circumstances and available equipment were much different when these pistols were being modified.

Great history lesson! "It has been doctrine right up till today for some organizations and trainers to [censored] DA guns for difficult shots. This is unnecessary and most squared away folks figured out that this is a terrible practice ages ago." How is this a terrible practice? It is a significant reduction in trigger pull distance and weight. I've seen Jerry Miculek do it. Just sayin...

I do have one tiny handgun without a trigger guard, North American arms 22 Short Mini-revolver I would never to that conversion though to any of my firearms but there was a time an place that it filled a need. Well pointed out in posts by Hetman and Sniper John is right with the right providence some of those revolvers are worth a lot. I don’t believe the point of posting the article was to change anyone’s mind. Years ago I helped a friend sell off his dad's collection of about 60 firearms. There was an old revolver modified in the Fitz style in the group. It also had an old Tyler T-grip adapter added. Guess which pistol was loaded with old corroded rounds. That's right, number 5 in the pictures, the Fitz special was fully loaded!

Was at the Texas Rangers Museum in Waco a few years ago, was amazed by how many 1911’s there were with trigger guards removed That was very popular up until the 50's and 60's. Look up "Fitz Special" revolvers.

IMO the fitz special is just a dumb idea overall. Too many modern shooters have shown just how fast you can shoot a gun and still have the trigger guard intact. Hell, Ed mcgivern was unbelievably fast and I don't think he ever fitz specialed his guns. The fitz special reminds me a little bit of when Emilio estevez said shaving that front side down would save you an eighth of a second on the draw. In other words it's all b*******. Just learn to shoot a gun with a normal trigger guard, people are having a hard enough time not shooting themselves in the leg already.....

Looks like something a lawyer wouldn't have a had time convincing a jury that you weren't going around just itching to get into a gunfight!
