He asked for better buckets not cheaper buckets. Could one apply the same logic concerning brown water and smokes?

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Yeti bucket. Pricey but they are heavy duty.

My kids got me a Yeti bucket for Father's Day a few years ago. I thought it was dumb at the time but it has become my go to step stool and tool carrier.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I have one of these, it is actually pretty nice with the heavy duty lid and gear belt and interior divider. Not cheap, but definitely will last forever. I can't believe no one has mentioned the Yeti bucket. Pricey but they are heavy duty.

I've noticed that buckets for sitting on don't seem to last as long as they used to. I'd like to believe that's because of the quality of the buckets, but I'm not so sure.

I really appreciate all the feedback guys. I have more options than I know what to do with. Its not exactly the biggest decision Ive ever made so Ill think on it a little and decide. Thanks THF. By the way, Im only about 180 so I would think I should be able to sit on one awhile. Someone did mention using one like a step stool and what Ive used I would be nervous about that. It got me to thinking if there are any that stout I might just get a couple for heavy use. Im always using a Yeti cooler to stand on or to brace up a deer stand for awhile. Those things are indestructible. I love stuff with more than one use so Ive always got a bucket in truck so if it could be used like a big block, etc then that would be functional.

We used to get a liquid boiler refractory product in a 6 gal. Bucket. The product weighed 80 lbs.you could run over them in a PU and not hurt them

When the kids were young I bought laundry detergent in buckets at Sam's. I saved them and still have 10 or 12. I have never had to buy a bucket.

80W90 gear lube comes to the dealer in buckets. When we empty a bucket of JT-7, someone calls dibs and cleans it for reuse. I also have one that used to have car wash soap concentrate in it.
Pass the gravy.

If you know of a logger in your area, they usually have empty hydraulic oil buckets and most are glad to get rid of them.

I've noticed that buckets for sitting on don't seem to last as long as they used to. I'd like to believe that's because of the quality of the buckets, but I'm not so sure. No doubt it's the plastic, maybe gravity increased too. :

Hood up. Typical. If you see any fluids under it, that's not a leak. It is sweating torque.

We would by cat litter in buckets. They sure come in handy. Weeding the garden you throw in the bucket, carry kindling in for fireplace, store birdseed, kids toys ( snap lid on them), washing the vehicle and so on

Hood up. Typical. Around here it is. I've got three ford trucks in the shop with the "hood up" currently. This one is a 76 F250 I-6 mated to a NP435 with divorced case, aka High Boy. Then I have a 95 f150 short wide that's getting LS swapped and slammed on 22s and a 1996 f150 SCLB that's getting 4wd swapped and put on period correct Welds and Boggers.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

The grocery store bakery often has stacks of buckets available. They usually have washed them out. I take all they have when I go so the gals don't have to tote the others to the dumpster.
The expensive buckets sounded stupid until I reflected that I've always have a favorite bucket. When one gives out I get another, put a rope handle on it and keep it in my truck. A sturdier version wouldn't be bad.
