The emphasis is on charity and not race. But I do want to finish. I’ve posted about this before (over a year ago), we have purchased two qualifying cars to date. The first cracked a piston in 10 minutes the second is running great but I don’t know (seriously doubt) it can make a 1000 mile race with me at the wheel (I’m impatient and slightly competitive). I will throw this out again in case anyone is game. The charity is Camp Able near Abilene in Taylor county Texas. It’s an equine therapy center focused on children with special needs but serving a much broader spectrum of youth. I grew up in the area and have deep ties with the founder and have always wanted to repay in some way the folks that have helped me and the future generations they support. There are some serious sponsorship opportunities available to go with this race and the social media presence is huge. I don’t claim to know anything about social media or how all this works but I know people that’ do and they are seeing 200k views on their page during the race. Every cent that I can raise will be donated to Camp Able (please never send me any payment). All I am asking for is a $750 car that will give me a chance (or a pot load of sponsors that want to donate, we are running regardless the vehicle. I’ve got a plan for this whole operation and if there is any interest I will post my plans here, we’re going to make camp able some $$$$. Just getting it to the top again. I’ve got a plan to finish but I’m not sure my equipment is up to the task. I’m confident we can raise $5000 + for this cause. I’m also confident we will have great time. We have a caddy to enter but I really want to find a $750 police crown Vic. This forum has been really good to me.
